How to Take Flash Photographs of “Blinkers”

We have all encountered them. Maybe you are even one of them. I have two of them in my family and they can be very challenging to photograph. I am talking about “blinkers”: those people who always seem to have their eyes closed in photographs when a flash is used.

The following is a catalogue of the different pieces of gear I have been using in my kit – some for years and some only more recently. I have included the items I currently use and love most, and just like my kit, expect this list to be ever evolving. There will be new additions to the list over time, and I will continue to populate it with examples and behind the scenes footage of the gear in action...

Keeping Your Bride Happy During One of the Most Stressful Times of Her Life

Most brides have been dreaming about their wedding long before they get engaged. They dream of how their wedding will look, what type of dress they will walk down the aisle in, imagine their first dance. In their minds, it’s all a beautiful fairy tale. They have no idea how stressful the planning can be. They don’t think about how disappointing it will be to find out that their dream wedding is going to cost 5 times their budget, and every single decision they make is going to be giving up a little part of their dream, another budget cut. It’s no wonder perfectly pleasant people can become ‘bridezillas’ without meaning to...

How to Convey Size in Landscape Photography

How to Convey Size in Landscape Photography

In landscape photography, you can very often take a shot of some immensely large scene (Grand Canyon, Ayer’s Rock etc) and get home to look at your shots only to see that the shot has failed to really convey how big the place was. It can be a little disappointing when you have grandiose subject matter (and ideas for how it will look on film) only to find that it looks… well, small. Other times, a smaller scene may appear a lot bigger than reality. And many times, you will want to correct the perception of scale in your images. Here’s what you can do.

I really enjoyed this viedo, my question to you is how do I set up my sb900 for repeated flash on my Nikon D90.. thank you

Turn the flash on. If it is not responding check the batteries. Make sure it is set to "ON" and not "REMOTE" or "MASTER". Press the button labeled "MODE" once. Turn the wheel until the mode changes to "RPT". You can now adjust the flash output (1/128 to 1/1), amount of flashes and frequency (in Hz, a.k.a. flashes per sec.) with the three menu buttons (below the display) and the wheel.

Close Up vs. Makro

Makro s digitálnou zrkadlovkou II. - zaostrovanie

Makrofotografia I - výstroj

Objektívy I. - Konštrukcia, základné pojmy a vlastnosti

Keby sme tu mali jeden systém, nebol by to problém.

Sám som používal objektívy rôznej kvality a druhu.

Väčšina amatérskych zrkadloviek sa dodáva v sete so základným zoomovým objektívom.

Cenovo dostupnejšie objektívy majú ohnisko do 300 mm. Majitelia APS-C a 4/3 zrkadloviek z toho vyťažia viac, vďaka menšiemu snímaču dostanú fotografiu ekvivalentnú ohnisku 450 až 600 mm.

a clone...

Ako je to s optickým zoomom?

Full Frame vs. Crop

Donedávna sa pomenovanie Full Frame (FF) spájalo výlučne s digitálnymi zrkadlovkami značky Canon. Práve táto spoločnosť dokázala veľký snímač úspešne využiť vo svojich profesionálnych (EOS-1Ds, EOS-1Ds Mk II, EOS-1Ds Mk III) a poloprofesionálnych (EOS 5D) zrkadlovkách aj keď nestála ako prvá pri jeho vzniku.

Guide To Macro Photography

Guide To Macro Photography

Macro photography on a budget

The Comprehensive Guide To Macro Photography

When we photograph something very small we call it a macro photography. I would imagine we should call it Micro photography, but I don't have control over the jargon.

Shooting small things poses great challenges and comes with high rewards. In this tutorial I to get all the info that you'd need to take macro shots. starting from equipment through subjects and tip and wrap up of some of my favorite macro photographers on Flickr if you need some extra inspiration.

When we talk about macro photography we tend to think about small things that we shoot from a close distance. This definition works for me as an on-the-nose definition and is probably right for just about 95% of all macro images...
